Tips For Time Managing

Tips for time managing include being strict as well as flexible with your schedule.

  • Do not over schedule. Putting too much on your plate, results in feelings of defeat and discouragement. Instead of looking at what you have done, you’ll only notice what is left to do. Learn to schedule less and completing what you’ve set out for yourself.

  • Write down what is most important to least important in your day planner. Put number beside each item and follow that list throughout the day.

  • Do you errands during the week as much as possible in order to avoid over packing your weekends.

  • Make phone calls as soon as you think of making them. Also, answer the phone when it rings (do not screen) and return phone calls as soon as you remember.

  • Keep one day off a week for yourself. In the book, “The Artist’s Way,” the author recommends keeping a few hours free one day a week for yourself to get in touch with your creativity, a kind of creative date night. A great day to do this is Sundays. Even Oprah Winfrey gives herself Sundays off. She says she often stays in her pj’s all day! Surely you can relax one day a week too.

  • Make a list of all the things you have to finish and call it a Project To Do List, and commit to finishing each project one at a time. Do not add to this list until items are taken off. For instance, if you’ve been planning to put your pictures into albums for a few years, put that on your Project To Do List and schedule time to put your photos into a photo album and set a deadline for yourself. When you’re done your photos, you cross it off your list and move onto the next item. Soon, you’ll be done all the things that have been on your mind for years. And, since you’ve mastered the art of saying no to things you don’t want to do, you’ve created time to do things that will benefit you more and help you regain control over your life.

  • When it all gets too much, delegate. You’ll be surprised how people are willing to help if you simply explain that you could really use their help in getting something done.

Pick one of these tips for time managing and start now. Don't get overwhelmed by trying to do them all at once. Start slowly and build up. With a little bit of effort, you can be on your way to much better time management, so keep at it.

Your life will be better for it.
