goes hand in hand with your overall self improvement journey. To begin exploring what your self esteem is like and how you can begin building it, try this simple exercise:
Take out some paper and write down what you think are three of the happiest moments in your life so far. Pick anything that comes to mind that still sends a warm glow through you. Your three might be something like your wedding day, your child’s birth, a day you spent at the beach by yourself or with someone special, or any other moments in which you felt pure joy.
Now for the fun part of this building self estem article:
Now that you have the three greatest moments of your life written down, take a look at the list again and ask yourself these questions: Why was this such a great moment in my life? Why was it so meaningful?
You might find yourself feeling as though the moment made you feel alive, the world made sense or that you were an active participant in life and things looked good. Any answer is right. Just make sure you identify what about these moments made you feel so great.
Next, write down what you may have been thinking at that time. Were you so in love that it didn’t matter what else happened at that moment, that nothing could ruin your good mood? Or were you so proud of yourself for an achievement that you believed you were capable and well-deserving?
Now think about how you would have handled any negativity that came your way at that time. Would you have handled it differently than if you were feeling down? Chances are that if you were in a high emotional state, you wouldn’t care if someone were negative to you. It’s like when you’re in love and you find yourself no longer caring about life’s nuisances like traffic jams and long line ups.
So, decide to have more of those great moments now. An accumulation of great moments, will lead to more happy feelings where you’ll start to feel comfortable feeling good. Feeling bad will fall by the wayside because it will start to feel wrong.
Many self esteem articles may tell you to do all or nothing, but we believe that even small changes are good when working towards building self esteem. Remember, guard your time, space and energy and be sure to use the
